‘The Hewitt Fire Department is combination with career and volunteer firefighters. The department provides resources for responding to emergency incidents within the service area with a goal to save lives, minimize property damage and provide mutual aid assistance to other agencies. The Fire Department on average responds to approximately 450 to 550 alarms per year, including structural, vehicle, grass/brush and other fires, entrapment rescues, emergency medical, first responder haz-mat incidents, general public services and assist emergency management. Fire Prevention Education Programs to schools and the general public are also provided.Fire Department Staffing

Firefighter Certifications
• Texas Commission on Fire Protection for structural firefighting.
• Texas Department of State Health Services EMT.
The department provides training to all firefighters to be consistent with Texas Commission on Fire Protection, State Fireman’s and Fire Marshals Association and Texas Department of State Health Services. Firefighters also are provided with continuous education for professional development. The department prides itself in both safety and being at the forefront of firefighting technology.
The Fire Department operates out of two fire stations. Station #1 operates 24 hours seven days. Station #2 is not manned but is activated for additional equipment deployment at any time by an Incident Commander.
