‘The Hewitt Police Depart­ment is a Community-Oriented Police Depart­ment. The depart­ment has evolved from a one man depart­ment to twenty-two sworn offi­cers, one reserve offi­cer, six dis­patch­ers, one ani­mal con­trol offi­cer, nine civil­ian employ­ees and 11 patrol cars.

The offi­cers are avail­able 24 hours a day to pro­tect and assist the cit­i­zens of Hewitt and any­one who may be pass­ing through the city. We have changed flats for elderly or ill indi­vid­u­als, unlocked car doors when keys are locked inside and helped peo­ple find lost chil­dren and pets.

We will check your home when you are away, assist you in engrav­ing your valu­ables with your dri­vers license num­ber, assist in set­ting up Neigh­bor­hood Watch groups, inspect your home or busi­ness for bet­ter ways to pro­tect them, and numer­ous other things only a car­ing small town police depart­ment will do.
